A jump rope is portable and easy to store. It can add to you current HIIT workout by giving it a boost. If you are unsure how to use the jump rope effectively to get the most benefit from your HIIT workout routine, here are some specific ways you can get started.

Ab HIIT Routine

jump rope and HIIT workoutsA core workout will work on your abs and stomach. It takes a little imagination to use a jump rope to work on your abs but it can be done. By doing 30 second cycles followed by a 10 second rest of raising your knees as high as possible when you jump, you will be working on your core and abs.

Away from the jump rope you can do the following sequence of moves: high knees, stability ball pushups, high knees, and then plank. This will work your core muscles and your legs at the same time.

For a full body HIIT workout using a jump rope follow this 25 second circuit. It involves 20 seconds of jumping followed by 5 seconds of rest. After this, you will do squats, rest, jumping, rest, push-ups, rest, jumping, rest, a solid plank hold, and then rest.

You can do this once and repeat it up to four or more times depending on how much time you have available.

This routine involves 20 seconds of activity followed by 10 seconds of rest. The routine is double-unders, push-ups, criss cross jumps, tricep dips, double-unders, shoulder-tap push-ups, criss cross jumps, and pike pushups. Again, this is done on the cycle of 20 seconds of workout with 10 seconds of rest. This can be repeated up to 5 times.
