The Lemonade Diet Review | The Master Cleanse Diet Review

Due to recent celebrity interest in the lemonade diet with Beyonce reportedly being a fan, this weight loss program is now more popular than ever. It is also known as the Master Cleanse.

The claim of this diet is to detoxify the body, removing the toxins that build up through day-to-day living. Other benefits include increased energy and it is even claimed to be a cure for ulcers.

It was created by Stanley Burroughs, who has long championed a more natural approach to weight loss.

So how exactly does the lemonade diet work?

The Lemonade Diet Plan

The foundation of the lemonade diet (also known as the maple syrup diet) is a short-term fast while drinking a lemon-based drink which is used as a meal replacement for three to ten days. The ingredients of this drink include water for flushing out toxins, cayenne pepper for revving up the metabolism, maple syrup for energy, and lemonade for detoxification.

lemonadeBurroughs claims that toxins, pesticides, and other impurities will all be eliminated from your system if you follow this diet to the letter. He also claims a 2 pound per day weight loss is achievable.

Burroughs recommends using only organic ingredients. Also recommended is a saltwater enema each morning and a laxative drink such as Senna tea. These reportedly help to remove built-up mucous and feces from the colon.

To follow the diet correctly, you should drink more than 6 portions of the drink each day, up to a maximum of 12. You can expect the detox process to begin after three days on the diet.  After the ten days are finished, a drink of organic orange juice is used to break the fast.

Lemonade Diet Advantages

It is true that probably significant weight loss can be expected from the lemonade diet, as your calorie intake will be drastically reduced. In addition, the benefits of detox plans allegedly include clearer skin and a sense of well-being.

Some dieters reported that cravings for harmful habits such as smoking and drinking were drastically reduced, although this is anecdotal and not evidence-based.

Lemonade Diet Downsides

Although the benefits may sound great, in reality, it is difficult to go without food for ten days. The negative effects of fasting can be seen as early as day two, with fainting and nausea being commonplace.

Although claims of a two-pound weight loss every day are made, this is not based in reality. If you do reach this target when following the diet the two pounds are not likely to be of fat, rather made up of water weight and faeces due to the inclusion of senna (a laxative).

If you have struggled to stick to a diet in the past, you may be able to identify with the fact that this diet is extremely difficult to stick to. The drink must be made to exact specifications, several times a day which can be difficult if you lead a busy life.
