Organic foods are seeing a surge in popularity because of people deciding they don't want to eat food they feel is laden with chemicals. Perhaps the popularity also comes from dietitians and nutritionists recommending organic food to patients.
Working out whether eating 100% organic or introducing more organic food into your diet, is good for weight loss involves first considering what organic really means when it comes to the food we eat.
What Is Organic Food?
We all used to eat organic food and then in the past 100 years herbicides and pesticides came along. Organic simply means that food is grown and processed without the use of pesticides and artificial fertilizers, is not genetically modified, doesn't contain artificial additives and is not contaminated by waste.
Food that is at least 70% natural can be called organic which is a little known fact. This can make some people uncomfortable with the thought of eating organic, as there is still a percentage of the food you do eat that isn't actually fully organic.
Is Organic Better For Weight Loss
Organic food does have its proven health benefits, with studies showing that organic crops give 21 percent more iron and 29 percent more magnesium than their non-organic counterparts. These are both essential minerals for health.
Also, if you eat five a day of organic vegetables, it is said that you will get your daily allowance of vitamin C, whereas with non-organic veg you won't. Vitamin C is thought to help with boosting the immune system and warding off infections naturally.
As for organic food being better for weight loss, sadly there is no overwhelming evidence to show that it is better. On average organic foods contain the same number of calories as non-organic foods as the growing process doesn't seem to affect how calorific the produce is.
Some people believe that eating organic meat is better for your weight because it does not contain artificial hormones which are thought to increase the storage of belly fat in particular.
They also believe that organic produce doesn't cause bloating or water retention due to the lack of pesticides and chemicals, which can give the appearance of weight loss.
These are only theories, but the important thing to recognize is that a healthy diet, free from artificial chemicals is probably the best way to go for most people, and if you lose weight then all the better!
How Can I Lose Weight?
Along with a healthy diet and exercise, you may wish to consider an all-natural weight loss supplement that means you can lose weight without taking strong chemicals into your body. Some diet pills and weight loss products have strong artificial ingredients that can prove to be too powerful, causing shakes and nervousness for example.
Nuratrim contains a blend of all-natural ingredients including an extract of fiery chili peppers to speed up metabolism gently yet effectively. One person even lost 56 pounds of weight while taking Nuratrim. For healthy, safe and sustained weight loss, Nuratrim could be the way to go for your weight loss journey.
