Because there are so many diets you could try, it is important to ask yourself the above questions before you commit to it. Always know that if a diet isn't working for you then there is no point in simply giving up, find another diet that suits you better.
Pitfalls for Choosing A Diet
Eating pounds of raw vegetables isn't for everyone, even though we all know it would help weight loss. A diet needs to be realistic and fit into your existing lifestyle. There is some evidence to suggest that easing yourself into a diet gradually can help with motivation too.
A diet must fit your budget and schedule also. Some diets involve getting expensive food parcels sent to your door, but not only might they break your budget, there is no point in signing up for them if you are out at work every day and have a busy schedule!
Similarly time is a constraint. If you don't have the time to prepare fancy diet meals, don't go for that diet. If you eat out a lot, choose a diet that allows for this. You don't want to feel like you have to give up the things you enjoy.
If you evaluate your options and go on to pick a diet that's right for you, motivation simply won't be an issue any more and sticking to your diet will be easy.
