Obesity is an issue that is becoming more and more common. There are thousands of weight loss plans springing up to cope with the demand for weight loss. Despite this, sometimes losing weight can seem too challenging.
The thing is, weight loss isn't complicated, but that doesn't mean it's not difficult. It's just that the steps needed to lose weight are simple to follow, you just need to follow them.
Just because a diet plan works for someone you know, doesn't mean it will suit you. The success of a plan depends on your genetic makeup, metabolism and exercise levels. Even though the fundamentals of weight loss are the same for everyone, the weight lost from following a specific diet plan will not be the same.
The first step to weight loss is to pick a weight loss plan that is right for you, that suits your lifestyle and body type. Here are some tips for choosing the right weight loss plan:
- You must be able to see yourself making the needed changes to your lifestyle.
- Remember that all weight loss plans work in the same way: by causing you to eat less than your body is burning. It is the action you take that is different, which is why there are so many options to choose from.
- You must be able to maintain the diet plan for a long time, if not the rest of your life. There is no point in losing weight if you re just going to pile it back on. So look for a long-term weight loss plan.
- Can you follow the eating plan? For instance can you easily get a hold of the ingredients and cook recipes that are needed for the food plan? Are the ingredients within your budget?
- Is the plan clinically proven or at least does it have anecdotal evidence to suggest it works. There is no point jumping on the latest diet bandwagon just because it worked for a friend. Everyone reacts to weight loss plans differently.
- Does the plan fit your lifestyle properly? For example, do you eat out a lot? If so a weight loss plan that says you need to cook every meal will not be right for you.
- You should look forward to starting your chosen plan. This means that the food choices look appetising and the exercise regime doable. If not then you will fail at the first stage of making changes to your eating habits and lifestyle.
- Is the plan too drastic? One of the most difficult changes to made that is required by certain weight loss plans is the change to a vegan diet (one that doesn't include meat or dairy). If you don't think you will be able to stick to it then don't do it.
Remember, you aren't a robot that follows instructions perfectly every time. You may find yourself breaking the diet rules and it is important not to be hard on yourself. Just dust yourself on and get back on the plan.

My background is in science, so I set out to find supplements that have scientific evidence behind them and which I can confidently recommend.

This is some good sound advice. I am a personal trainer and I tell my customers this all the time. It is nice to see this type of information online and not a lot of hogwash.
